Special UP MCBPR and UP MCBP!!!

I have yet another question about the MPCB and MPCBR hosted by Union Pacific.

  1. Does anyone know what engines are going to be on the future UP MCBPR / MCBP?

  2. What time would the MCBPR come through Geneva/West Chicago/ or Glen Ellyn? Any one of those will tide me over. Thanks Guys!

  1. Not really–usually it’s engines that have only CNW ATC and no UP cab signals, like the ex-CNW SD40-2s. As you know, there have been some special units on the trains on occason; it takes about four days to go through their cycle on MPRCB and MCBPR. Saturday’s trains at this end of the system don’t have the Olympic units.

  2. During the day. That’s about the best answer possible. It might show a certain time on a lineup now–that time will be different in the morning, and will change in either direction as the day progresses. Anywhere from late morning to early evening is when it’s most likely to arrive at Proviso. It might even sit at Wheaton or Finley Road after it’s been through West Chicago, or it might linger at Peck waiting for a break in the action. Lots of variables to deal with.

Ok, thanks, but then where are the Olympic units, or 3300?

On the Council Bluffs end.

Right now all three units are in C.B.

So, when will these 3 come back to Chicago? I am asking so many questions because I am trying to get better pictures.

Go out trackside tomorrow. They should be on their way.
