Spectrum 3 truck Climax

I am thinking about acquiring a Bachmann Spectrum 3 truck Climax. The earlier 2 truck Climax had pretty poor running gear. How is the newer 3 truck version? Is the running gear more robust? Has anyone had problems with the gears slipping on the drive shafts?

MIne still runs great after two years, I have heard very little complaints as far as the 3 Truck HO version is concerned.

Shame on me! I forgot to specify HO scale. And I know better.

I have two - one DCC and one DCC with sound, and they both run very well with no gear slipping problems. If you can, go with the DCC/sound version. The added enjoyment of the sound capability is worth every penny.

Will.

I also monitor the Bachmann site and it is known that the gears from the new three truck Climax do not fit the old two truck Climax.

Also, to date there have been no reported issues with the gears that I am aware of.

While I have a couple of the new Climax units, other than the initial run in, I have not had the units running on the layout.

I realize now that I definitely have acquired too many engines…

You may wish to call Bachmann service to confirm this, I have been told by them they will fit.

I don’t have a two truck to confirm this, but just so you are aware.

PS You can never have too many locos can you? [:D]
