I was just looking through the selection of Bachmann HO engines on Walthers and found out that the new Spectrum 4-4-0s are now available for pre-order![:)] Unfortunately, they are $240 and won’t be around until Halloween, 2006.[:0] For that price, I hope that they’re more detailed and better quality then any of their other steam engines, because 4-4-0s are small.[:0][:0][:0]
There’s usually no need to pre-order unless you must be the first kid on the block to have one, because they will probably be available at significant discounts after about six months of their introduction. A member of our local HO scale club pre-ordered a Burlington Zephyr from Con-Cor because he was certain that they would be in short supply. Well, it turns out that they are plentiful, and he paid almost $150 more than what they are selling for today.
i wish i could see a picture of it. i’m definitly going to add several to my layout once their released
Wow, $240 MSRP for that new engine! I saw a picture of it the other day, but this is pretty ‘pricy’! I would expect the ‘street’ price to be about $190 - Still expensive. It is listed with DCC, but any ‘sound’?
Jim Bernier
the spectrum 2-8-0 with dcc (no sound) is MSRP’d at $160 . $240 seems like a big price jump unless it has sound . we may have a long time to wait until we know for sure [:(]
Well, the most hobby shops sell the products way below the MSRP. Lets hope!
