Spectrum 44 tonner

I’ve given up on trying to get this two motor pain in the***to work right. Does anyone know how to scratch-build a frame and drive line for the shell? All of the old Athearn motors and other spare parts I have are too large. I don’t want to give Bachmann any more money for the single motor loco with the decent gears that they should have made properly in the first place.

I’d just give in and buy the single-motor version. I probably will buy the 1-motor 70 Tonner when it comes out…

And those little power trucks are good for projects

I find this somewhat surprising. I’ve owned a 44-ton for at least
10 years and other than the wheels needing cleaning from time to
time I’ve had no trouble whatsoever with it. It still runs very well.
Of course, I understand that there are lemons in almost every
batch and perhaps you were unfortunate enough to get stuck
with one but that doesn’t mean that they are all junk. I admit that
when I first saw that 2-motor drive that I wondered about how well
it would sychronize and perform but I was pleasantly surprised.

Before you buy one!!! Box up your old one and send it to bachmann with $10 in the box. Write a little note describing the problem and ask for the newer single motor driveline. It takes a couple months to get the new engine, but its worth it. The single motor 44 tonner is excellent![:D]
