Have any of you ever converted a Spectrum GE 70 Ton Diesel to DCC with sound? I have a new DCC ready 70 ton unit, but I also have one of the older ones non dcc with the two motors. It’s a really good runner, and since I’m going DCC, I was wondering what decoders to use, and which speaker might fit. Any thoughts? HO Scale by the way.
Bumping my thread. Just to let yall know. I GONNA do mine. I may use the same decoder as the 44 ton. That ought to be dang close. Can we say dang? Too late. Dang. Whan I’m done, I’ll post pictures and stuff to let yall know how it went. If yall are interested.
The problem with the old non DCC unit is that it has two motors rather than one–not sure how much harder that makes DCC installation!
I beleive the 70 ton and the 44 tonner are coming out with a decoder installed.
I got that part down pat. All you need to do is select a decoder with enough amperage for both motors.
