Spectrum Shay & Climax owners

I recently read on another MRR forum an introductory post by the new owner of NWSL. I would rather not post his message here.

He mentions that someone sent him their Spectrum HO Shay to see if replacement gears might be possible. He did not promise anything but is looking into the issue. Maybe if enough people spread the word, it might convince him to try. The NWSL URL is still active.

I do not have these models but I am sure there will be people interested. Nothing to lose but a little computer time.

Thanks for the information Rich, I have 2 of the shays, never had an issue whatsoever with either one. I waited too long and never got a climax, but I did hear about some having gear issues.

The split gears of the Spectrum Shay are an extremely common problem, so it would make sense for them to make replacement gears. My Shay has 4 out of 6 gears split, and I don’t feel like getting replacements from Bachmann since the same thing may happen all over again.

Bachmann appears to have turned their back on the HO Shay and Climax gear problems. They have essentially ignored requests posted to their forum for help or replacement parts.
