Although I’m far more sensitive to Big Boys than to TGVs and other fu&@in electric powered passenger trains that rule europeean railroads, what I heard (Pentrex videos) is the following: a Big Boy was able to pull 5 miles of cars on LEVEL and SRAIGHT track.
So I doubt it was the case at Sherman Hill…Furthermore at 80mph![;)]
depends on the train :
average in the US is 70-75mph
in Europe its probaly 180-210km/h----trains over there are made for speed
it also depends on the track —US has horrible track conditions vs.europe because over there it is the main transportation [:)]
