Does anyone have a resource that shows what speed limits are along specific sections of track? I am especially interested in the NEC East of New Haven.
If you can specify the locations we can look them up in last year’s timetable, which isn’t guaranteed correct, but probably close enough. I’m not familiar with that area, so you’ll have to describe the locations well enough that I know what piece of track you’re actually asking about.
Where might one find Amtrak employee timetables?
The NYS&W web site has(had?) their employee timetables and it’s fascinating to neophytes like me.
Carl Loucks, who advertises in Trains and Classic Trains sells timetables. Call or email for a free copyof his catalog. 203 245-7531 chloucks@sbcglobal.net

Basically I am interested in the track running through Rhode Island. Thanks
Haven’t seen one on the web. There used to be speed limit signs. I was going for the limits on specific stretchs of track.
Following are the speeds for an eastward Acela:
90 mph thru Westerly but 85 on the rightward curve maybe a half-mile east of the station, then 90 until another 85 mph rightward curve http://tinyurl.com/dkk2gl then increase to 105 mph with a few 85-95 mph curves until the east end of this curve http://tinyurl.com/byd2cl where the 150-mph straightaway starts.
Acela has to slow to 130 (or less) on all but a few very slight curves, so they slow to 130 at http://tinyurl.com/chmouj then resume 150 until another 130 curve http://tinyurl.com/c6awvy. Then 110 mph on a leftward curve http://tinyurl.com/aw5733 , 115 on the next leftward curve, then 105 on the rightward curve http://tinyurl.com/de5lv8 then back to 150 on the straightaway past the airport. The last 3+ miles into Providence are 55-70 mph except for the last curve approaching the station.
Employee timetables in any of their various formats, can make for interesting reading. Even if they are a few years old, they provide a lot of background info regarding operations for whatever spot I’m currently watching and photographing trains.
Thanks that is justwhatI was looking for!
