Spine car ?

Hello can someone please help me identify these cars on a train list. When I go through my train list i says car summary 68 double stacks 1 spine car. I know what it looks like but cant identify it on paper are their speacial car codes?

You can probably do it by reporting mark. Cars bearing reporting marks DTTX, SP, BNSF, BRAN, CSXT (and maybe a few others), if seen on an intermodal train, are going to be double-stack cars.

If they’re reporting marks TTAX, NTTX, or perhaps a few others, they’ll be spine cars. About the only company you have to look out for is FEC–they have some of both.

Depending on whose railroad’s lists you’re looking at, it might be possible to tell in other ways by the codes used on the paper.

If the car is a Trailer Train Co. car (TTX) then the reporting mark for a TOFC only car, would be TTAX. The TTRX car is an “all pupose” spine car. If it is BNSF owned I can’t help you.

I forgot about TTRX–both TTRX and TTAX are all-purpose spine cars, capable of carrying either trailers or containers, but TTRX cars are limited in the lengths of boxes they can carry.

Thank you for the help
