Sports specials.

I was wondering if where you live there were any passenger specials on commuter lines or Amtrak for sporting events. If my facts are straight they use some old DRGW equitment in Iowa for Iowa St. or Iowa games and I believe I’ve also seen pictures of a Hoosier specail run by Amtrak. Pictures would be appreciated of specailly painted stuff.

In recent years Amtrak has extended the Heartland Flyer (821) into Dallas’ Fair Park for the Oklahoma/U Texas football game. Don’t know if they add equipment or not.

I hope to run down to Iowa City and get pictures of the consist used for the Coralville to Kinnick Stadium shuttle- looks like the next opportunity I will have won’t be until Oct. 1, though (I’m busy this coming Saturday).

Sounds like fun. Bring us some pics will ya?[:p][tup]

I believe Metrolink runs specials on the days that they have big races at Fontana Speedway. I don’t believe they look any different, but I could be wrong.

I think there are occasional Amtrak charters to Cincinnati from Huntington for the baseball games and similar services provided by MARC into the Camden Yards for baseball and/or football. Then my information could be old.

hmmmmm lets see CSX and NS go to Augusta for the Masters Golf turnament [:D].CSX,NS,RJC got to the Kentucky Derby also NS and CSX also go to the Super Bowl or atleast they did last year not sure if they go all the time.

PS and FYI I AM GOING TO THE MASTERS 2006 YIPPIE

I think the freight roads run Super Bowl trains.

AMTRAK ran Seattle Seahawks specials, but I don’t think baseball or basketball games rate special trains. CALTRAIN, though does run Giants specials. SP and AMTRAK have run Big Game specials to Stanford, some, from Berkely, via San Jose. Let’s not forget the Army-Navy specials of the former Pennsy. The Rose Bowl once rated extra sections of the Lark. I would guess there are many others.

UP ran the 3985 to San Antonio Tx, for the Superbowl a couple years back.

I may be wrong but aren’t the Superbowl trains non public? Same holds for the Kentucky Derby trains.
