I have a hazmat chemical mask.i use woth the spray booth. The filters are cotton and charcoal. It dawned on me to ask, do they make similar filters for spray booths so they dont havento be vented in the winter. If the filters work for a hazmat resperator, why not a larger version for a booth? Something for.winter use. For the rest of the year vent it outside.
Speaking for myself, I wouldn’t trust it. I prefer to evacuate all fumes & contaminates out of the whole area. On the positive side, I leave the fan on when I’m finished spraying which draws air across/around the model and gently speeds drying.
Unless you are using non-toxic paints, vent. To the outside. Period.
Not worth the risk of using filters only, as even filter manufacturers say to vent exhaust to the outside, unless using non-toxic materials.
Your (and your family’s, as applicable) health and wellbeing is not worth putting in jeopardy for models…
First, the railroad and shop have its own building not.in the house. Second. It is not a dustask you.get at home.depot it is a hazmat resperator. Uses the same cartridges used with tyvec suits masks on hazmat sites. Because that is the type of resperator it is. The cartridges are osha certified. All tjey are is cotton and charcoal. If they are good enough to use there. Why couldnt a scaled up version work on a spray booth? And yes i am osha 40 hazmat certified.
The volume of material will overwhelm the filter material in the spray booth - typically over 100 cfm. Your breathing through your mask does not move that volume. Also, you are going to use lots od carriage material to allow that cfm - $$$. Stick with the mask…
