I’m using a mix of 50% matte medium and water to cement turf, ballast ,etc. I’ve tried several spray bottles and haven’t found one yet that works well. They “stop” up and squirt a stream rather than a mist.
I’ve used plastic plant sprayer bottles with great results. I usually mix 3:1 water to matte medium, though.
One thing you need to do when spraying matte medium and water is to add a drop of dish detergent to the mix to break the surface tension- it makes it much easier to spray.
I mix it closer to 5 or 6 parts water to one part matte medium. I think otherwise it is too thick to spray properly. I have seen the same effect you are talking about when the mix is too “rich”.
If you use a spray bottle to spray matte medium or diluted white glue, remove the pump and put it in a cup of clean water and pump it until clean water comes out. This will prevent the glue from drying and plugging the hole.
