10 cars from a csx coal train derailed in St.Joe Indiana. It is blocking both Chicago mains on csx and probably will affect the NS Wabash line (Ft wayne-Detroit) as well.

CSX seems to be a mess close to Chicago. They are parking trains going into Chicago. This has been ongoing for quite some time.
Too much oil, perhaps?
A lot of it was winter weather then trying to catch up just when traffic begins to pick up. Everybody seems to blame everything on oil even when it’s a relatively small part of what’s being carried.
Update on the St. Joe crossing? The CSX hasnt run a train in an hour this morning, which is unusual.

Maybe it’s too much grain and fertilizer traffic.

Peak - Oil, Ethanol, Grain, Fertilizer, Ore, Coal, Intermodal and general merchandise.
Currently operating over 600 trains a day systemwide vs. the old ‘normal’ of about 500. Couple all that with the congestion situation with connecting carriers through the various gateways and the bad Winter weather = tough sledding.
Gad zooks! a 20% in number of trains no wonder traffic here has increased so much. Trains here are running max speed whenever possible.
saw some re-routes at work today.Sperry and MOW have been trying to get track time. They are also replacing track between N Baltimore and Fostoria. They are also using long pool crews for willard to Garrett(which usually go willard to chicago). It also affects the trains turning onto the toledo sub and Toledo branch as well.
