St. Louis Area RR Swap Meet Sat March 12th

The Boeing Employees’ Railroad Club-St. Louis is having their Spring Railroad Swap Meet on Saturday March 12 2011. 10am to 3pm. Over 280 tables of RR goodies! It is at the Greensfelder Recreation Complex (Hockey Rink) at Queeny Park.

Here are some photos from last spring.

Very good show, the area is large enough that you don’t get claustrophic! I bought a couple of kits from author Joe Collias there last year! Wish I’d brought “the Last of Steam” for him to autograph!

It’s a great show indeed! One of the best in the country! Have found lots of bargains there in the past!

Would love to attend this weekend but I’m working thousands of miles away.

Yep. Ill be making the trek accross the river. The boys have pocket money burning holes in their pockets!!

Going to try to get over, if I can shake this cold!!

Admission is $3.00 children under 12 free

Free parking

The club’s HO layout will be set up in the snack bar area

There is a test track for most major scales

Don’t forget to make everybody wash their hands, it’s been my experience that there are a few there with “sticky fingers” and Wayne seemed to think that using my PPK to change their attitudes wasn’t appropriate. ;-]

And he’s an ex Marine no less…!

We went and had a good time. This was the first year when due to kids activities that we could not get over to the meet until after 1PM. The upside was that it was really open and not crowded at all. The downside was that by 2PM some of the vendors were already closing up shop and leaving. Some of the vendors were discounting away trying to sell out, so there were bargains to be had. Having said that I did not find all that much that I was interested in this time around. Of course getting there late, you always wonder about what great deals you missed?

If you really want to get in on the bargains get yourself a table and cruise the area before it’s open to the public. Just get yourself and a friend and rent one table and take your “excess” there to sell it. Then you can look around starting at 7:00AM and you will probaly find several things you didn’t think you “needed”.

Yes there is alot of dealer to dealer selling at all train shows before the show is open to the public.

I spent most of my time helping with the clubs HO layout. I did find a nice Katy 50ft box car with kd’s & metal wheels for $4.00 & CGW 50ft box car with kd’s for $3.00. I also got a nice Art Decco Gas Station kit from Vic Smith. Gary Hoover also had a table with nice selection for sale. I saw Eric Brooman of Utah Belt fame come thru the door. With the weather so nice the crowd came early.

Next swap meet is Sept 10th 2011.

Tables (30" x 96") are $15.00. (they go fast) PM me for contact info.
