stalling athearn 282 genises steamer

Hello again everyone, I am having trouble with a athearn 282 genises steamer. It stalls on curves or when you touch or move the DCC wiring that is located under the cab and connects to the tender. I tried to take it apart but it looks hard. Maybe I should take it to a train shop for repair? Sorry for the mistake on the first email. Thanks rambo1…

I have the same loco and had the same problem. The wires in mine worked loose
at the moter. They are connected using an “eye” connector which is attached to the motor
with small screws. The wires need to be soldered back to the connectors. If you are comfortable
with soldering you could fix it yourself,if not I would have a train shop repair the problem. Keep
in mind that Athearn used very fine wire so it would flex between loco and tender, so soldering can
get tricky. Also if you look at the exploded drawing that came with your loco it will give you an
idea how to diassemble it . Just take your time and be gentle with it if you decide to do this
yourself. This is a great running loco, it could use a little more weight tough.
