Starlight in Canyon Country

Last Sunday I caught the detouring Amtrak Coast Starlight heading up the old Saugus Line through Soledad Canyon, on a line that really should have long distance passenger trains of its own, but only sees them now when the Coast Line is shut down.

Next week (first full week in November) reportedly FIVE more days worth of detouring Starlights will traverse Canyon Country, Tehachapi Pass, and the Central Valley between Los Angeles and Sacramento!
