Stars and colors?

I’ve only been checking the MR forums less than 2 weeks. What is the significance of the stars with different colors by certain members names?
I realize that it may have to do with time as a member or number of postings, but what are the details?

It’s the number of posts you have.
50 posts=1 star
100 posts= 2 stars
500 posts= 3 stars
1000 posts= 4 stars
2000 posts= 5 stars
