How do you earn those stars next to your profile name??? This has been confusing me for a while.
Those of us who talk a lot get stars. Some think its kind of fun (me) and some think it encourages wasted posts (not me). 100 get 1, 500 gets 2. I would like to think that some of my posts were of value, and some were just encouraging to those like me who need a little encouragement. I even enjoy a little philisophical banter with spacemouse on occassion.
Actually, Big Blue, as you can see, you get your first star for 50 posts–don’t remember incrementally how it goes up after that. This has been discussed on another thread and as I recall, I think MR is going to do away with the star system.

If you need 100 posts to get a star, why do people with 55 or 70 have one?
Dont worry about them stars, there going to go Bye Bye when Klambake revamps the forum later this year. Its a bit of a joke as they dont mean anything about skill or ability or any real knowledge, mostly either you’ve been here forever like me and just accumulate a crap load of them, or your new but just cant shut up. Most of us fall middlin between these two extremes…
I got so many *'s I stopped counting, wont miss them a bit.

Yeah i’m hoping to get three before they are removed
at first all i worried about was stars, now i don’t really care, i prefer quality not quantity

They are a bit of fun and identify how active your are on the forum. Because some folks got their knickers all in a twist over them, the moderator is going to do away with them when he installs the new forum software.

Hey, maybe instead of stars we could get track spikes! Or how about sections of track!
