Starting off on a positive note

Hello, my fellow hobbyists.

Thank you for my warm reception despite my negative debut post.

Until today, I’ve been a silent reader, reading the threads in this forum without replying to any.

I would like to take this time to introduce myself as a devoted hobbyist and straight-up, give-it-to-you-between-the-eyes kind of person.

I write/post and try to live my life by The Four Way Test:

Is it the truth?

Is it fair to all concerned?

Will it build good will and better friendships?

Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Hopefully, by being truthful, Fairness will result, good will and better friendships will be forged and everyone will benefit.

I don’t expect everyone here to agree with my philosophy, but please, respect it.

I look forward to forging frindships here as a result.

Your friend in model railroading,

Ted Marshall

Welcome Ted, good to have you join the forum. There are many talented individuals here who are happy to help. I look forward to seeing some of your layout.

Welcome, I’m a newcomer (to the hobby and this forum) also and have been pleasantly surprised by the warm reception here.

Good philosophy…welcome aboard.

There is a lot of good info from good folks here. It is always good to “see” a fresh face. Welcome!!

Hello fellow Rotarian! Welcome to the forum.

[tup] Nice start–welcome aboard. As you’ve seen from visiting, lots of excellent opinions and information here that I’ve found extremely helpful. Though I think it’s important to have a knowledge base when starting out (e.g., reading several of the Kalmbach books), this forum is a great source of “hands-on” experience information that adds immensely to that base.

[#welcome]to the forums! we hope you enjoy the endless banks of information held here. you have come to the right place for your Model Railroad needs. post a problem, next day there might be an answer. we’re always willing to help everyone around these forums. we hope you enjoy–BAM! (fire alarm) “Dang these cheap recording devices!” FWOOSH! “okay, the fire is out”

“WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!”

Hello Ted.[8D][tup]

I do hope that your situation with BLI is resolved soon.

I see that you live in Naples, just 2 hours south of me. Just 2 months ago I rode the Seminole Gulf Dinner Train in your neck of the woods. Very enjoyable experience. If you’re ever in Tampa, please stop in at Happy Hobo Trains. Good people there.

So, can you tell us about your modeling? ( favorite railroad, modeling era, layout, collection, DC or DCC, operations or roundy-round, etc…[;)]

I have no qualms with your philosophy; it sounds like a solid one to me. Welcome to the peanut gallery.

Well, to be REAL honest, it’s kinda following up on a positive note, isn’t it?

In any event, welcome to the forum. You can expect some people here to be open and hopefully helpful. Others, if you disagree, may have you calling Bob for a little friendly conversation. At least he was honest, he didn’t smile right at you, and lie like a rug like some do these days. I, well, mainly my wife, has been trying to get the “$100 off” from the cable company you are supposed to get when you turn in the satellite dish, for over a year. They are always real helpful, polite, and say they will call the accounting office or whoever and get back to you, they just do not do it. Ever. I think it’s just “Welcome to life in America, 2007 Edition.”

[#welcome] Ted! What do you like to model? Got any pics? E-Bay can be a great source for those hard to find cars if you can put up with those ***minimum bids.
