starting out

Am just starting out in garden railway design & construction. Does anyone have plans for rolling stock, etc that I could use? (scratch built)
Cheers

Welcome KC.

The problem is you haven’t told us what sort of equipment you are looking for. Do you like the Colonial stuff of the British Empire or the American Maine 2 footers? Steam or Diesel? There is such a wealth of information out there that really we have to know where to start.

The site here has access to several published plans and I have a fair collection of same -but be warned thery are quite large files and I would check that your mailbox has enough space for them!

I think you are putting the cart before the horse.

Your initial energies would b better spent designing and building a layout.

Locos come second, then rolling stock and finally lanscape and buildings is a logical way to progress.

All good points, and would certainly help narrow the scope of applicable answers. But, Garden Railways has–for quite a few years–published “pull-out” plans in the center of every magazine. Rolling stock in these plans has run the gamut, and many are still available for purchase.

Here’s a list of the available plans (current through June '05)
