After SCREWING UP the 1st try at subroadbed building (looked great if you like a roller coaster) I ripped it out down to the “L” girder.
With the help of a skull session a VERY IMPROVED track plan was developed. One person was very up on proto type track work, another was iinto NMRA stds for radius and such and the last pieces of the puzzle was proto type operations which another member has been doing for the last 25 years.
The new plan will allow 8 operators, 11 engines to run at the same time. The magnatude of the project is such that with out the help of 9 other people I could not build it in my lifetime.
850 ft of Code 83 track, 104 turnouts, 6 dcc power grides, full Digitrax signals and all Radio DCC plus a future Trolly line.
All I need now is money!!! Only kidding, just will not buy the Daytona Coupe I found, no big deal.
If anyone is around the AIken S.C. area and wants in on this we meet every Tuesday AT my house where the project is located. AFter mine is to “plywood Central” stage we will move on and take 3 other layouts to that stage in this area. That way we can run 4 different layouts every month.
i either need to find a group of people like you have , but here in toronto , or move to aiken s.c. !!!
THis group had fallen apart when they lost their place to set up their modular HO and N. We had our 1st session and 9 people made it. When they have a meeting about 3 or 4 show up to bench talk and watch videos.
Hope it works out for them since I know it will for me.
You can start a group just talk around the hobby shop you would be sirprosed how many closet rail roaders there are out in the world just looking for a like minded person.
Good to see you’ve found a easiser track plan, no offense but the old one was rather contrived and loopy.
You should have a dynamite layout when its all said and done.
