Starucca Viaduct - searched..the whole net

I can’t find any solid info when/if the Starucca was placed out of service.

Any info/insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I believe it is still in use by the New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway.

Concur - it’s still in use. instead, it was the former Delaware & Hudson track beneath Starucca that was removed, a little post-ConRail implementation, if I recall correctly - probably the early 1980’s. It’s now a rail-trail (one that I haven’t been on - yet !).

I haven’t been down that way recently. The viaduct is on the NYS&W line between Port Jervis and Binghampton - used, I think, by NS. Anything you can find about that line will be indicative of the status of the viaduct.

Try spelling it with 2 Rs…Your search will work!

Yes, Starrucca with two r’s and two c’s at Lanesboro near Susquehanna, PA on the former Erie, EL, NS, now NYS&W (leased from NS) line between Port Jervis and Binghamton (with no P but lots of s…), NY. D&H Penn Div. under, long gone. Best info: Starrucca, The Bridge of Stone, by William S. Young. Updated many, many times since it first appeard. Available at hobby shops in and around Binghamton, and from the book store at Steamtown, or direct from the author, RR1, Susquehanna, PA. (New Century Edition, 2005)

thanks for the replies guys.

it probably was my spelling.
