STB awards contract for railroad rate study
Just another example of government overeach. Feds go away. Come back when you have something to bring to the table that doesn’t cost my class one and others a boat load of money.
Is this study truly going to be a fair one? Will the railroads be able to make their position clear and without question? I fear this is going to be another Anti-Railroad attack by the “administration” to buy donations for their “select” party with a “give back” by forcing lower freight rates. A reasonable rate of return on the railroads’ capital invested and covering their operating costs and a profit for the investors should be the prime concern. To force railroads into providing service at lower and unprofitable rates assures a return to the bad old days before the Staggers Act.
Governments are incapable of setting prices.
