I personally am starting to hope this ridiculous idea can be deferred until after EHH retires so that the next head of CP can drop it like a hot potato, as it should be.
Who thinks this stuff other than coniving greedy people. Could we use the same process if Hillary or the Donald get elected ?
Again this unorthodox trust setup reveals the true objective: Get Ackman and EHH into NS where they can “unlock shareholder value” by looting the company of assets. Once they are in the door in Norfolk, they could care less if the two railroads are ever merged. They will then dump CP on the first sucker to express interest.
Like the other three comments which I agree with, this is totally wrong, all that it is, is a ploy to control NS, by Ackman and henchman, I hope this does not go thru.
Paul, unfortunately EHH will never retire. He retired to Florida from CN with a million dollar pension that he gave up to go to CP. I don’t know what he would do about NS’s 70 year mandatory retirement.
Love or hate Hunter Harrison, there is no denying his success in turning around an ailing CP Rail. The railroad is after all a business that works for the customer and reports to the shareholders.
You must be on drugs. Hunter Harrison is like the kid you don’t want around the house. Not only must this pass muster with the STB, it also has to clear at least 2 people here. Transport Canada and possibly Industry Canada. If one says no, this deal is off. Should the STB approve, but Transport Canada says no, deal is off.
This merger is completely ridiculous.
