If you are thinking about modeling a steam era shortline railroad you may want take a look at a few rosters for some prototype info and ideas at the Steam Loco Roster group in the files section. This is a small group and there are not too many rosters up yet but the ones that have been posted have some great modeling potential and the people who have posted the rosters will most likely be glad to help with other details about the railroads if one sparks your interest.

Wow! We picked up a few new members! Thanks guys. I’ll have to put up another roster to celebrate. Even if you don’t want to join another group but have a roster you would like to share please contact me. We really need some Northeastern, Western, Midwestern and Canadian rosters so that any one who visits can find some old railroad in there neck of the woods. Most of what we have so far are in Texas and the South. If we can get up a roster file of about 100 railroads scattered around North America I think we have a valuable resource to give people at least a starting point to model railroads that are unique but representative of what was part of everyday life many years ago.
