steam or deasel

which do you think is better?

Steam vs Diseasals

As in real life railroading, model diesel are always superior. They get the job done better than model steam does. With less trouble and less fuss, just like the prototypes.

But as for looks and cool factor are concerned, steam wins hands down.

GO CAB-FORWARDS!

diesel is definitly my favorite. steam is ok but not as good as diesel. Electric locomotives are the stupidest things on the face of the earth! my [2c]

Even though I run desiel and its what I have grown up around. I voted for steam. Nothing beats the sound and sight of a huge piece of metal rolling down the tracks.

What is a “deasel”? And a “desiel”. Ain’t no such words.

deasel— dead weasel
desiel— a French auto never produced

Steam all the way. Especially a Lima Van Sweargian Berkshire!

Interesting poll.

When it comes to 3 rail O and Standard guage all I have are electrics.

For HO I have some diesel, but all my logging equipment is steam.

I guess I just can’t make up my mind. [(-D]

I’ll have to keep buying stuff till I figure it out. Don’t tell my wife, though. [;)]

All my HO is eletric…

even the ones dressed up like steam!

okay! Im a steam & early diesel fan.

You actually asked two different questions. Which do you like better and which is better. Oh well, my answer is steam anyway.

Steam rules. Diesel drools.

Hey, there is just something about a steam locomotive… Dirty, smelly, constantly hissing. Such a difference between that low throaty powerful Chuff, chuff, chuff, FFFFWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! of the great steam locomotive, and the loud blaring HONK or BBBLLAAAAAAT and rumble, glug, glug, cough, cough, rumble of a diseasal. No diseasals on my layout, thank you very much.

I would never want to see railroads go back to using steam locos in regular service, as they are very polluting, inefficient, prone to problems, and very labor intensive. Many of the deisels out there today are things of great beauty, but they never can compare to a seamer 'cause there is nothing like the smell, sound, and look of a steam locomotive.[yeah]

Nothing beats the looks, the sound, the pleasure of a great steam engine in your layout. But then, I was born in 1939, my younger years saw all the great steam engines.

TURBINES

Steam ROCKS! The sounds is just too cool.

Oh, and what aggro said.

Check out this site for steam sound:

Can’t work one of these on a diesel. Gimme steam…

Gear driven nuclear deasels.

I voted steam. The newer engines are nice, but you just can’t beat the beauty of the old steam locomotives. And with sound, the models not only look great but sound so realistic. It makes a the pike just come alive like a time warp.

Dave

I had to go with steam. The drive rods going back and forth…the hiss of steam releasing and shooting out from under the boiler…and the whistles!! Anything is better than a…horn???
