Maybe they should invest in a steam generator car.

Steamtown has been a typical government funded operation…missed priorities and a sorry excuse for a steam restoration program. Do everyone a favor and sell your equipment to someone who can take care of it…
sad and disturbing it takes this dang long for these clowns to rebuild how many steamers? and how many do they have up there now torn apart? this is a embarasment to the nps, to the tax payers and to the country.
hook up with 261
hook with 261

I wish 26 was still operating at steamtown.
Can’t they borrow a loco?

Where is CP or CN rail, which provides equipment for Steamtown helping out?
@Robert Teed. They already have one. Ex TH&B nee NYC 500
Dieseltown is alive and well!
Engine #26 has been out of service for more than 10 years. Isn’t it about time it got back on the road?
Just about every tourist RR has a"Polar Express", or “Santa’s Train”, and actually MAKES money at this time of the year. Only the gov. run and FUNDED " STEAMTOWN" could be in this situation. They need a board of directors with foresight but then again they’d only be political flunkies that do what they’re told.

AS for # 26 Kip said; it should be under steam by the end of this year or the first of next. The don’t have a large work crew and when there not enough volunteers, the work crews does there job
Agreed there is to much government BS and not enough funding. Like everything the government does it will form a committee that will agree on nothing and take years to do that.
Too bad. not certain where the problem is (poor management, no funding, no coptency, etc) but sure not a very eniable track record of delievering results. Seems like death by a thousand cuts!
Patience. Someday in the future we will see 3713 and 2317 doublehead in the Poconos with 26 holding down the Scranton Limited. The restorations are Smithsonian in quality and take time with limited resources.
It seems the recently rebuilt CNJ 113 that is nearby with nowhere to run would make a great stand-in for the 26 on the Scranton limited and the Reading and Northern 425 would make an equally great Holiday Express engine if dieseltown would step up to the plate and share the profits…
