Bentham:
Just what do you mean by “Obama won’t listen to reason?” Do you think he should continue to allow millions of our citizens do continue to go without health insurance?. Is that what you call “reason”? What planet are you from? Get on the right side of history. Everyone is going to have health insurance because it it the RIGHT thing to do irrespective of what insensitive, selfish, myopic rightwing fanatics think. it is moral and ethical. And it is necessary. I respect Obama’s uncompromising desire to do this. It will be financed by returning to tax rates that prevailed years ago when our economic growth rates were far higher than they are today. Don’t even think of telling me that higher marginal tax rates will retard economic growth. They did not in the past and will not in the future.
This stuff is too political.
“offensive language, personal attacks, or irrelevant comments will be deleted.”
Just don’t take away my ability to be offensive, disrespecting, personally attacking, or relevantly, irrelevant.
Like, “no ACA, but don’t mess with my Medicare!”
Were the Steamtown sacrificed trips mentioned a few times?
The only shutdown are services that affect we the people; check out the 27th amendment and see who gets paid no matter what happens.
And one more thing. The country isn’t divided enough between socialist and normal Americans. But lately it is getting closer to my comfort level as places like Steamtown are getting the Bamacades.

Please tell me where in the Constitution I am able to find health care insurance as a right. While I have you at this task, point out where government has the right to force an citizen to purchase something the citizen chooses to not purchase. As most the likely outcome will be you and your socialist friends being unable to point out these things in Constitution for three reasons. First, you never read the Constitution because it was written to be read by real Americans, not socialists. Second, health care is not a right and not in the Constitution. Third, the power of government to force citizens to purchase a product is not in the Constitution. Not that I expect you to understand. Because I don’t.
Meanwhile, if Steamtown was run by the private volunteer sector like other railroad museums, it wouldn’t have this problem, now would it? Solution? Find some volunteers and eliminate the incompetent socialists in government. Obama could care less about Steamtown. To him, it is nothing more than an extremely small bargaining chip not even worthy of attent
William: Why should I pay for your health care?
We have a government that is using its power to purposely punish its citizens. Too bad the president is a golf fan and not a railfan…his golf course remains open.
If the good doctor loves Obamacare so much, let him get his healthcare from there - if he can find a doctor that will take an Obamacare patient. Better yet, let his entire practice be made up of Obamacare patients; if their reimbursement rates are anything like Medicare rates, the good doctor’s wallet will be a lot thinner, and he will learn how it feels to get by on a normal income. I’d like to be a fly on the wall.
The National Park Service has demonstrated a level of spite and petulance for the entire American public that is breathtaking. NPS has worked very hard and spent significant cash to make things as unpleasant as possible instead of working to minimize disruption. This is shameful. The NPS would do well to remember that it exists for the express purpose of serving the American public.

As soon as the Republicans in the House start being reasonable, the President will start listening. Get real about what’s going on in Washington. The R’s lost the 2012 election, and all that’s left to them is to use their ability to block, and that’s what they’re trying to do.
I am pleased to know that I am smarter than an MD. I hope I never have to depend upon him.
Steamtown may as well hunker down into winter mode. Obama is not going to listen to reason. Ever.
Thank you Dr. McDonald. It’s nice to read an intelligent point of view on this exchange. And you didn’t even have to re-post it two or three times, like many, who apparently have nothing better to do than make inane comments.
It is unfortunate that during all of this “game playing” that the “invisible” citizens who have to suffer - are suffering in silence. Yes, SOME programs need a microscopic review of their cost to benefit analysis. But UNTIL this can be done - this “game” will not have any winners as we will ALL lose.
The golf course at Andrews AFB is still functioning for O’Bummer’s pleasure. Poor Dr. McDonald, in Vermont. He is “commitable”, but Waterbury State Hospital is closed. The Liberal/Democrat/Progressive/Communists run the show, mostly with out-of-state student votes.
What if William D Hays has a pre-existing condition in which insurance companies have the option of NOT providing Mr. Hayes with any coverage. Yes Mr. Hayes, under the pre ACA era, you would be thrown to the wolves. Now, that’s illegal for insurance companies to do that.
