Steel coil dimentions?

I lived by the Bethelem Steel wire mill in Johnstown, PA as a kid. I want to model a few gondolas with “wire” loads but I cant seem to find out how big the wire spools that they produced were. Any Ideas or does anyone know? Thanks

Have you checked steel company website?

still working on that angle, but thanks for the suggestion

backtonscale: When I was trucking, I used to haul a lot of coiled steel wire of about ½ and less. The coils were about half the width of my dry box trailer and IIRC nearely four feet long. I had them loaded alternately along the sides, with their ends meshed by three or four inches, to hold them in place. I would imagine that in a gon, they would be loaded a bit differently, probably even skidded and chocked and secured with steel banding. Good luck with using them.
