Any reviews? Are Stewart Hobbies freight cars decent? I don’t get much of a description anywhere I have looked.
Thanks!!
Tim
Stewart freight cars are all very nice, very accurate models of specific prototypes. They’re basically top of the line shake the box kits. I think Stewart only sells them decorated for specific prototypes.
Stewart’s kits are premium kits, well above Athearn and MDC, and in the Bowser, Accurail, Branchline Yardmaster level.
Tim, if Stewart offers the car(s) you want, buy them.
I really like my Stewart coal hoppers. Good detail in a simple kit. Good painting and printing from the factory. Ready for KD couplers and metal wheelsets of any kind. All cars should be that way.
Well, Stewart is running a sale @ $5 each for 70 ton hoppers. I think you guys have made up my mind[:D].
I’m guna git me sum!![:p]
Thanks a bunch!!
I think they also packaged 5 (or 6) 70 ton hoppers together with consecutive numbers.
What’s the typcial price for a Stewart car at an LHS? Let’s say a 50 ft. Box or a Centerflow Hopper?
Stewart doesn’t make boxcars or covered hoppers-- Only open-top coal hoppers and ore cars. List price ranges from $10 to $16, which at one shop in my area translates to around $8 to $11.
