sticking horn in DCC

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with the horn on my sd40-2 locomotive made by Broadway Limited. When I try to blow for a road crossing the horn wants to just continue to blow and to stop it I have to press the button again. I haven’t done much trouble shooting as i discovered this the other day at our clubs open house. I was on here today and thought I’d throw it out for you all to see if anyone else has this issue. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all.

NS,

You must be using the “2” or F2 button to activate your horn. That’s what it’s supposed to do.

NS, I don’t know which DCC you are using. If you use the HORN button instead of the “2” or F2 button, the horn will only engage as long as you hold down the button (momentary). I don’t know right off hand but you maybe able to go into your CV settings and change that.

Anyway, hope that helps…

Tom

What kind of DCC system do you have?

On my Lenz system, the function buttons all default to “toggle” mode. If you push the button once, it goes on and the function stays on. Push it again and it goes off. It’s possible to re-program each button individually to put it into “momentary” mode. This is done on a locomotive-by-locomotive basis for Lenz. I can’t speak for the others.

You might try resetting to factory default settings. That fixed my BLI. Check your manual or the web for procedure.

Sorry all should of stated I am using the NCE system. Thanks for the input I’ll check it out. I don’t think it does this on my system at home but it did it at our club. It very well may be a setting in the system.
