Stores near Texas A&M

are there any train stores or hobby shops near Texas A&M, Bryan, Collage Station?

anyone know of any?

Note where I’m from. I work for A&M. [:)]

Sadly, the last place we have to buy anything even remotely train-related here is Hobby Lobby. The last hobby shop closed down about 3 years ago. If we need anything for the clubs or our home layouts, we have to go to Houston or Austin, or do mail/internet ordering.

Are you an incoming student? [:)]

no i’m going to a camp there and was going to see if there was any so i can stop by.

Arjay1969 used to work for a pretty good hobby shop that closed about 8 years ago in College Station…

The owner had a thing for CF7’s…

ok thats nice to know

Probably the closest are in Spring, TX, Spring Hobbies at FM 2920 and I45 and Larry’s Hobbies at FM 1960 and I45. The University area on the south side of houston has several good ones too.

A bit off topic, but I was a member of the Brazos Valley MRR Club in Bryan which was building a layout in what originally was a small park pavilion near the lake just off S. College.

Is the club still operating?

The club is still around, though we moved to Bonham Park in north Bryan back in '86. The city decided it wanted that building back, but gave us the use of an old tractor shed. I’d point you in the direction of the club’s web page but we don’t currently have one. [:I] You should be able to see pics of the layout on the SanJac website soon, though…we’re supposed to be on the tour in November.

WHOOP!! Class of '90

Keiser’s in Bryan was my LHS during College, I’m pretty sure they closed after I moved back home. Great shop, nice folks, hope they’re all doing well.

Ah, yes! [:)] Another place I worked, way back when. Keyser’s moved to Culpepper Plaza, then slowly changed into a music store. Sadly, the owner was diagnosed with lung cancer nad has since passed away.
