Storms/Wind/Flooding

Folks,

Is there some kind of rule that governs operations in areas of high wind/severe storms/flooding as far as restricting speed or cautioning a movement through an area? I thought I heard a “Rule X” mentioned but the scanner was pretty scratchy so I couldn’t be sure. TIA.

From the GCOR,

6.21.2 Water Above Rail

Do not operate trains and engines over tracks submerged in water until the track has been inspected and verified as safe.

Operate engines at 5 MPH or less when water is above the top of the rail. If water is more than 3 inches above the top of the rail, a mechanical department supervisor must authorize the movement.

We have a Form W order for severe weather, and a Form H order for excessive heat. Both generally contain a speed restriction, and location of know hazards. They are issued by the Dispatcher as hazards are discovered or anticipated.

Thanks Nick. I’ve heard enough of the chatter about water related restrictions from the last couple years but hadnt’ heard the “Rule X” thing before…or the two Forms you mention. I appreciate your answers.
