Strange Athearn Genesis F7 behavior

I have an A-B set of Athearn Genesis F7s with Train Control Systems DCC decoders that have been behaving strangely. After a while they will start slightly speeding up and slowing down very rapidly (over a second or two). It is barely perceptable but just enough that a whole train of coal cars will start making a up and down noise as the train rolls at speed. My Stewart and Intermoutain F7 with TCS decoders don’t ever behave this way. I have cleaned the wheels and reset the decoders to no avail. Has anyone else noticed this with the Genesis F7’s? Any thoughts? I am thinking about putting the shells, which are beautiful, on Stewart chassis as they always seem to run the best. - Nevin

DCC layouts are kind of funny…let me explain. If you clean you track that should do the trick. DCC locomotives need clean track in order to receive a decent signal,if not they run jerky.

I use a product called Flitz, its an electrical cleaner, just dab some on a clean rag and wipe the rails.Flitz also protects the rail from corrosion.

I agree. Clean the track, dont just clean it though, polish it. I use MAAS, flitz and MAAS do the same thing so just whatever you can find…
