While surfing around I noticed that both Broadway Limited and MTH happen to have the SP daylight passenger cars available the same time. Is this a coincidence or are they doing a joint manufacturing run?
I doubt very much that there was any collusion involved between the two companies – most likely just a coincidence that they both came out with a similar product.
Would you expect an IHC heavyweight have a similar appearance and detail as a Walthers Heavyweight?
I find the scaling of certain MTH details to be way out of proportion. The spacing under the trainling trucks, lead trucks and between engine and tender seems WAY too big. But that’s just my opinion.
You are absolutely correct. The reason is so they can get them around ridiculously tight curves and increase sales. The same clearance space in O is in effect hallf as large on the model. How many posts have been made wanting to know why massive engine balk at 15 or 18" curves in HO?
Collusion? Co-operation, maybe, but not collusion. Co-operation is not unknown in the hobby. However, I would be very surprised to find MTH and BLI co-operating or colluding. They aren’t exactly best buds, you know.
