Only on certain weekends and on certain unused lines will you find speeders in recreational operation in the U.S. The railroads stopped using them long ago before the advent of the Hi-Railer.
I had the opportunity to run one not long ago. It was being readied for - recreational use. Several folks were headed out to camp on an out-of-service portion of our line.
All “real” work on the line is done with hi-railers.
That first truck (the chasee?) was an interesting alternative to a hi-railer–sort of like a treadmill car. I don’t think it’s very efficient, in weight or prep time.
I can’t view the video, but from what I understand, speeders should at least be easier to work with on bad track, and they’re easier to turn around, right?
I was talking about the first speeder with the truck configuration. I never seen this type of speeder before.
It was need to see something different on the truck. Did you notice the guy on the bed of the truck watching the gas engine.

You mean the one being chased? [%-)] Sorry, I was focussed on the “Chaser”… [:-^]
