Strasburg RR Layout??

Hey rrinker, you mentioned that you might have some video of the layout from the weekend. Any luck? [:-^]

Yeah, I’d like to see some too.

We are missing the layout by a few days. We will be visiting Strasburg RR and the RR Museum of PA the 12-13th.

Yeah I played some back and they look ok, just have to get them transferred to my computer and make cut out the sound or something. I may get home earlier tomorrow and have a chance to mess with it.

BTW the layout depicts parts of the Reading, not the Strasburg RR. I did see another modular group at a different show who’s layout IS the Strasburg RR, complete with the RR Museum of PA across the street - very nice layout and it’s I believe full scale since tha actual Strasburg RR is only like 4 miles long.

We will be back at Strasburg at the beginning of October for the Model Railroad Days, and later at the October Timonium show.

Here ya go, just created a YouTube account and uploaded my first video.

This is one of the new BLI T-1’s going over the State Hill Road bridge at Wyomissing Junction (coincidently the modeled spot is just blocks from my house).

And another, the high.wide train goes through Prescott

Great videos, thanks. You are right about the new Paragon 2 version of the T1, the sound is a vast improvement over the PCM by far.

Thanks for the video’s. That looks like the layout I saw in the lobby about a month and a half ago? Was pretty good size. As far as video’s go if you’re going to do many more consider photoshop elements. Great program that allows easy editing including audio dubbing.

Another thing is when the ocotober events get closer try to remember to post them. Maybe a few here can hook up. [tup]

YouTube doesn’t like the output of my camera, it seems. They play fine locally with none of the jerkiness. Looks like they may assume 720i when the camera outputs 720p or something.

No, that’s not the lobby layout, ours is much bigger. 136 feet long when we have a space like there to set it all up, when we do malls it varies depending on where they put us. There are a few other pieces on permanent display at the museum in Hamburg plus a few people are workign on one that will include parts of Hersheypark, including some of the rides. There are enough modules to make a layout nearly 200 feet long.

That would require about 273 feet in HO scale. I used a figure of 4.5 miles.

Rich

What would require 273 feet?

Obvious Man said this thread is about the Strasburg RR Layout. It should be obvious. Someone named Hamltnblue started the thread. Read through all the messages.

Rich

Without a quote you have to assume the person is responding to the message directly before. That one was rinkers. which had 2 numbers talking about his layout size. One on the size of the layout at the event which was 136 feet and one on how large all of their modules would take up which is 200 feet. This is how forums work. [;)]. If it was a conversation the following comment would look out of place, hence the question.

I think he mixed it up with the other thread where I mentioned that there is a modular group that makes a model of the actual Strasburg Railroad.

They aren;t actually AT Strasburg. We are there twice a year, but we model the Reading.
