how do i get the wires to touch the top without any problem and how do I det it up to look realistic?
Sommerfeldt of Germany makes a catenary in HO scale, which is very well suited to resemble the typical street car catenary system.
You can buy it from this source (scroll down a little to see masts etc).
Pantographs are usually spring loaded, so they just touch the overhead wire, enough to provide electrical contact.
Installing a catenary system on your layout requires a great deal of care and soldering skills. As it is not a cheap affair, I´d suggest you to try your hand at it before investing a lot of $$$ on buying all the components you need for your setup.
