Stripping a Athearrn MOPAC, need help

My 97 % alcohol or break fluid won’t get the yellow off an Athearn GP 38 Missouri Pacific. Any suggestions. Don’t have floquil paint remover.

Will the Floquil paint remover attack the plastic? Have you tried soaking it in Windex?

I’ve used Pinesol to remove paint from old model car kits with good results.

Windex and Pinesol, will give them a try. Thanks for the suggestions.

also try 99 percent alcohol.rambo1…

Jerrold, How long did you soak the shell? I have an old Athean BB SW1500 that I wanted to strip and repaint and I used 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. I had to soak it for about a week-ten days to get all of it off. It also helps to brush out the corners and crevices with an old toothbrush once the “big stuff” is dissolved, then soak it again. The whole stripping process takes about 10 days. I like using alcohol because there is no danger to the plastic. If I had it to do over (and I will), I would use the stronger solution like you’re using; it will probably take less time as well.
