Stripping a P2K GP30

Hi,

I’m in the process of converting my GP30 to a high hood and was wondering if I need to strip the paint before I repaint it? If so what should I use to strip the paint? It’s a Proto 2000.

Thanks,

I have done this with my P2K GP30, preparatory to giving it a repaint.

I had great success using 91% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). It doesn’t

hurt the shell at all.

I have a bottle of 70% Isopropyl alcohol, would that work?

Thanks,

I have had good luck with Scalecoat Paint Remover on P2K shells. It takes the paint off completely in about 10 or 20 minutes with no damage to the plastic. I’ve done a GP38-2 and an SD50 this way.

I believe that 70% rubbing alcohol is not strong enough to do a good thorough

job. 91%can be obtained at many retail outlets like drug stores, grocers and department stores.

It is also inexpensive. Good luck.
