structures for layout

I am interested in purchasing structures for my FasTrack layout. It appears that Plasticville products are no longer manufactured and are now collectors’ items (which I’m not interested in). Are there other reasonably priced sources that would have structures typical of those in the 1950-1960’s?

There are many sources of ready made buildings and modular walls ect to design your own

Design preservation models

Ameritowne owned by O gauge Railroading OGR

Walthers

and a cheap but labour intensive way is to use Model Builder Software that is the actual name of the software.

This lets you design buildings and print them out and they are super realistic. see thread on OGR for examples of what can be done. or better yet go to thier website

This is not true. Bachman is still making Plasticville. They’re of course making these in Asia now and I’ve heard the plastic is not of the same caliber as the postwar product but the structures remain the same. Color have changed so as not cause confusion with postwar collectibles.

Just google plasticville. Or here’s the site: http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/index.html

Plasticville is also a good price, but check a number of the retailer’s on-line sites (such as Charles Ro) as prices do vary.

Model Power has a line of buildings that will fit the 1950’s and 1960’s. Walthers may have the Model Power buildings in stock.

Lionel’s structures are on sale at mail-order and on-line retailers like Charles Ro Supply Co., JusTrains, and TrainWorld.

Lionel, MTH and Walters Cornerstone all make “O” gauge ready-made structures or kits. Bachman makes the “Plasticville” stuff now.

I recommend this firm.

Check out some of the on-line retailers, some are doing big time blowouts of some of the K-Line structures.[8D]
