stub end yards

i have noticed many beautiful model railroads using stub end yards. i understand space can be limited so you cant always have 2 switching leads. but maybe one yard track should have a small mini lead at the stub end. just a track long enough for 2 engines to pull into the yard.i did this on my layout and i was also able to put a small industry at the small lead. so i also have a new industry in the current issue of great model railroads there is a beautiful conrail layout but i notice it is basically a stub end yard with a curved lead. maybe one track could have a small lead to pull into the yard.backing all trains in would require lots of extra moves and man hours. thanx
