There are 8 people in Indianapolis capable of reading the constitutional limits on their government and then following that law. Something lacking in pretty much all countries, including America. End of story.
The Constitution clearly states powers not given to the Federal government is given to the states. A) the federal government is given (indirectly, in two different sections) the power to fund transit, and B) the state governments don’t have the restrictions that the Federal government has, as clearly stated in the 10th amendment, which gives them additional power to be able to spend on transit.
My second point I would like to make to you, Mr. Guse, is that, as clearly shown by this study, public transit provides a MUCH GREATER return than what is spent on it. Yet you seem to think the only solution is building multi-lane highways which take up much more room (that could otherwise be devleoped), cost much more money, and need much more maintenance at tax dollar expense.
It is obnoxious how you pick & choose your arguments in each story that comes up and in addition seem to always try to omit certain facts. Omission of facts and picking & choosing your arguments on a case by case basis eliminates any credibility and in addition makes you a nuisance.
Well, there are eight people in Indiana who need to read the report, don’t you think? Incidentally, how can a committee alone decide what laws to pass?
A committee can only decide to sit on a bill (basically kill it) or forward it to the full legislature, which is needed for passage. If every proposed bill went to the full legislature, they would never get anything done.
Well put Jim!!
I agree 100% with JIM DODDS. The Silly Goosie IS a nuisance and that he should just “fly away”!!! Quack, quack!!! And that is “END OF STORY”!!!
I’ll be telling my local council heads about this DART study. I’m sure Port Authority of Allegheny County is already aware. My first-ring “trolley suburb,” just over the line from Pittsburgh and served by LRT, is dawdling in developing a mixed use complex near a busy station. This study might help light a fire.
