Excerpt from the Durango Herald, November 7, 2011
Funnyman David Letterman celebrated his son’s birthday Saturday on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
A private train went from Durango to Cascade Canyon – a partial trip that runs in the fall and winter months, said D&SNG owner Al Harper.
Six adults and four kids celebrated Harry Letterman’s birthday, Harper said. Harry turned 8 on Nov. 3.
Harper gave Letterman, 64, a tour of the museum and the roundhouse.
“He could not have been nicer,” Harper said. “Very humble. His wife and family are very outgoing. He’s a little more reserved.”

I wonder if he got a cab ride and got to blow the whistle?
Not sure why this would be “stupid”.
I’m sure the railroad didn’t operate it at a loss, or in a way that interferes with other operations. If someone has the money to burn in this way, let 'em! It’s safe, fun, and might be the catalyst for some future railfans.
Carl- It’s just a play on words. Stupid Human Tricks is a well known David Letterman routine.
Thanks, Norris!
Mr. Letterman has not been on my top-ten list of watched comedy shows. [;)]
+1
Letterman was a bit too sharp-tongued for my taste.

Here’s your typical Letterman fan. Loyal to the last.
