styrene tender for live steam engine

Would it melt? Maybe it’s a stupid question…All it would hold would be r/c gear.

My Aristo live steam mikado has a plastic tender, along with the cab/boiler shell. I see no problem, it’s back away from the heat after all. Granted the Aristo may use a special kind of plastic, it seems pretty hard, have not messed with the tender any though, so it may just be regular plastic.

I think plastic will be fine. I’ve even heard of a 15" gauge live steam locomotive with a plastic tender… although it was probably Lexan or something other than styrene.

No worries at all. I’ve got a styrene tender behind one of my Ruby kitbashes.
