Subject:Football

Hello, What is your favorite team this year(college and\or pro)? By the way, does anybody know if there ever was any train items that had football stuff on them, like boxcars?

Thanks, stephen

Yeah, they have occasionally done “special run” productions of boxcars with NFL logos on them. I suppose X-treme fans and collectors might go for these, but they’re decidedly not the kind of thing you’d see chugging down the main line.

I’m a New England Patriots fan, by the way. Some Sport Illustrated pundit picked the Pats and the Cowboys in the Superbowl next year. Sure, that and the big-time Walthers ads.

Yes, there were, but I don’t remember off hand who made them.

That wouldn’t be a bad idea for a model.

Go redskins!!!

Mantua Industries (now out of business) made the Superbowl Express. They had the teams logos on refridge cars. I have #500 out of 3000 and have no intention of letting it go! By the way…

Go Ravens!!!

P.S. They also made the Fastball Express. This set had 6 of the MLB teams on it (Orioles, Cubs, Braves, Yankees, Dodgers and Indians). This set I have #50 of 1500. Same deal…I’m holding on to it!

GO COLTS!!!

I’ve seen some of the Mantua cars being sold cheap at a recent trainshow. The Rams car is in the old Rams colors from the 1999-2000 season so that gives you some idea of when they were made.

That’s it! I couldn’t remember who made that, and I had one! Gettin’ a bad memory in my old age.

I know this is not the place BUT,

The NFL screwed football fans when Mantua made the Superbowl Express. As far as I can remember, INDIANNAPOLIS COLTS has NEVER won a Superbowl.
The BALTIMORE COLTS however DID!!! And so have the Ravens!

P.S. By the way…you can keep the Irsays!!!

Go Wolverines!!!
Go COLTS!!! It is our year (and the Irsays) to win the SuperBowl!!!
By the way its Indianapolis…Just 1 N…LOL

My signature should explain my college, Northern Illinois.
In terms of NFL I’m all for “DA BEARS” (yes, I am originally from Chicago in case you’re seeing a pattern)

I’ve seen some NFL boxcars around, probably out of production. Would it be all that difficult to get some decal paper and make some custon decals and paint up an undec?

there is; there out of production i have the set …they where my grandpas he gave em too me. it comes in a set of every team and a sd40-2 engine with the nfl logo on it. ive seena hobby shop once two years ago with them but they closed.

Didn’t Irsay load all the Colts’ equipment and stuff into tractor-trailers in the middle of the night at the old Memorial Field, and sneak the team out of Baltimore?

College is Oklahoma Sooners and NFL is the Cowboys (since 1972)

Yeah, that seems right.

Makes for a pretty funny story…

At the completion of their 1-13 season in 1969 I became a Pittsburgh Steelers follower.
Followed them from the NFL Century Division the next year to the AFC Central Division and after seeing games played on the Pitt Panthers field for a spell, followed them to the now gone Three Rivers Stadium. Oh did I mention that we all waited patiently for that ring for the thumb that was finally delivered on that most recent Super Bowl Sunday?

True Steeler fans never brag, never accept success until the clock reads 0:00 and don’t predict anything 'cept for the possible repeat of recent accomplishments by the most solid football franchise in history with anything but a wide smile. [:)][:)] (or two)

BTW, dwRavenstar, you’ve lived in Huntindon? I spent all my summers as a boy at my grandparents house in Robertsdale, Huntingdon County.
