Why is it a Canadian subscriber is asked to pay $52.95 for 1 year, a US subsciber approx $ 42.oo and through a subscription service available to US subscibers only $19.95 for 1 year. I know the Canadian dollar was worth less than the US dollar for a long time but now they are worth virtually the same. I have been a subscriber for over 20 years but now as a retiree money is tight. It seems the publisher is simply taking a windfall profit from Canadian readers. Dave i

Shipping? Customs?

$10.00 per year more, what in postage? You would think they were using Canada Post.

NAFTA??

As a seller on Ebay, I’d guess that most of the difference is the postage. I could send something across the country for $5.00, but cross into Canada and you’re talking $15 to $20 to ship the same item.

And Europe was a whole 'nuther story.

I wonder if that’s an E-Bay thing? I sent 2 identicle boxes from Tn. One went to California and the other to somewhere in Canada. The one to Canada was $2 cheaper. Neither was over $8.
(these weren’t E-Bay items)

I don’t have the answer, but my subscription copies ($52.00 or so per year) come mailed from Canada, with stickers from a forwarding company, but in the mail.

Some stores made a big deal about offering US magazines and greeting cards at US cover prices last fall, Wal-Mart among them. Now the US magazines and cards come with only the Canadian prices on them, so we’re still getting shafted.
