Portland’s commuter/ light rail/ street car system is well integrated, and is continuing to grow!
One can only imagine the possibilities if Colorado Rail Car had been able to find sufficient U.S. customers for it’s diesel powered railcars. If only Vermont had followed through (instead of coming up with a bunch of “half-baked” excuses for not proceeding with an acquisition of railcars); perhaps we would be able to buy a "DESIGNED and Made in America product, rather than going offshore!
What’s the cost per passenger of this service in particular and Tri-Met overall?
Anytime I see comments about the cost of rail passenger service I have to ask “what is the rate of return on any Interstate highway system that is not funded by a toll.”
I believe, Mr. Killen, that TriMet operates at a profit, but I do not have specific numbers.
