Hello,
I heard a bout a paint that I can put on an object and print a Black and white photo on. I would like to use a railroad item (that would fit in a paint tray) to print a train photo on. Any Ideas?

Well, if you had a number of clean RR spikes (sandblasted), you could line them up, print the image on a few of them, and have a puzzle, or a neat multi-part photograph.
I’d think anything flat would work best, so maybe make a piece of “siding” from a railroad car? Beadboard from a home supply store could pass for tongue and grove siding, or a piece of sheet metal could work as part of the side of a caboose.
You could try and use a small sheet of sheet metal thats shiny, so the inside could be a lanern reflecor, while the outside has the train photo on it. It would need to be about 5inches by 10 inches to curve around most old kerosene railraod lanterns. A bit of basic soldiering or riveting can easily attatch two u-shaped pieces of sheet metal to make hooks for the reflector to hang from the cage, so you don’t damage the actual lantern.
If you have one, you could try and do something on the black hood to a railroad crossing signal. It would be cool having the photo printed around the are where the lense is, although it would require a photo where most of the middle could be removed.
Do you have more information about this paint?
Sounds like a very interesting idea
I don’t have any info about it…my photography teacher was telling me about it.
It’s liquid emulsion. Instead of buying film, which already has the emulsion (which contains the light sensitive silver particles) applied, one can buy this stuff and apply it to whatever base one prefers.
But this would have to be printed with an enlarger and then processed, right?
Yes, the item would be painted in a dark room, then using the enlarger would be prited like a regular photo.
