Summer 06 project!!

heyy guys i am planning on building my first HO layout over the summer. ive been noticing that maybe its just me but HO seems too run so much better do too the weight.?. I am planning on building a layout starting with the roco dcc starter set. it comes with a CSX gp38 engine good quality too. a norfolk southern boxcar a csx boxcar and CN boxcar a csx tank car a and a csx caboose. i wont be keeping the track but i want too keep the engine and cars and the DCC set is this a good investment? also i want some snap together track because as a kid i stink at laying roadbed and track. just help me out i may have alot of trains but know almost nothing about HO! please any advice will help!
Thankyou! Keith Meattey.

i need help guys come on!

Personally, I don’t think it is. I am not familiar with the ROCO dcc set, but I would recommend something a bit more mainstream here in the United States (digitrax, NCE, Atlas, MRC, Lenz). Also, the train set, if I remember correctly, comes with non-standard american couplers. I don’t think it is a quality issue, just a compatability issue. There are other options I would take. MR did a review of the ROCO set if I believe, but I don’t remember which issue.

We would love to be helpful, but your question takes a book to answer. That is a place to start. Go to your hobby shop or the internet and get a book on starting an HO layout. Then as you have specific questions you will get good answers here.
